The inspiration for the trolley came from repairing old shopping trolleys that often had poor quality wheels and the usual walking stick arrangement. As i was a volunteer at a local coppicing group and had access to some lovely straight hazel rods i spent a few winters perfecting the steam bending process to achieve a lovely functional handle.
I then spent time looking to improve on the wheel arrangement and after successfully finding suitable high quality wheels the next challenge was fitting them, fortunately i knew of a local machinist who was able to supply the spindles - a 16mm solid steel bar with threaded ends to accommodate the wheels.
This is the final version of many prototypes and modifications to achieve a functional , high quality basket trolley.
